Heartless Wa-Loli in Blue

Description

And, this is what has been keeping me busy the past week or so (assuming you haven't been barraged by my constant Twitter/Facebook/Blog updates) XP

An order for a Heartless Wa-Loli outfit, but in blues instead of red, so that she could wear it to prom (how friggin' amazing is that?!)

I was so happy to get to do this - not only is my embroidery machine *finally* fixed *crosses fingers* but it was a lot of fun to get to do another one of these outfits - I always find them fun, for some reason. Maybe it's cuz it's something I designed, and I'm just always amazed when people like something I've done that much, I dunno... or maybe it's cuz I get to make a corset. But, they make me happy to make!

This one is pretty similar to the black and red, with the only real change being the color and some of the fabrics. The skirt is a light blue crepe-backed satin, which is, truthfully, the only satin I willingly work with besides matte bridal satin, which only came in a couple of fugly colors of blue this year for some strange reason. I like the texture of it, and it's really a very pretty fabric to have in general.

The skirt is a little bit longer than the original one, but it can easily be hiked up to be shorter. There is no petticoat on it, since it was safer to just ship the petticoat directly to the customer instead of hoping it got to me in time. I actually think this one may not *need* the petticoat on it, I like how it lays. The pleats are insanely deep on this, so it'll be pretty to dance in. The edge is rolled in black, to match the piping in blue on the black kimono top :D

The piping and bias for the corset are the same material as the skirt - it's the first time I've made piping in years, and I'm happy to know that I can still do it :giggle: There is the "Heartless" logo embroidered on the back of the kimono, with light blue gem buttons all over it as well (where the crests on a kimono would be). Finally, the sleeves are woven though with a really beautiful light blue decorative ribbon with gold accents - it was more expensive than the regular ribbon, but it just looked too good not to use!

The corset is a double layer of twill with the logo embroidered on, with steel boning throughout. The sashes are cotton sashes, in pretty blue fabrics (at least, they're my favorite prints!) that just wrap on, and the bow slides into the back.

The bow is also a bit bigger than the past orders, because I wanted it to be more like a butterfly and less stiff, like the red and black one. I thought, since the skirt was a softer look, the bow should be as well, and I'm happy I went with my gut on that one, because I think it looks beautiful.

All in all, I would have to say that this is one amazing outfit I am so happy I was able to create (and have it all done in time, too, as her prom is this weekend!). I think I like the blue better than the red, too... *le gasp*
