Stormy Weather

Well, if you live anywhere between Des Moines, Iowa, and where I am, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, you've been getting pelted with storms. We've had record rainfalls, and massive amounts of flooding.

Things started on Friday, with our first Tornado Warning (one was forming about 4 miles away from me at the airport, and it scared the heck out of me, because I'm a wuss) and severe weather thing... and man, it poured. Then, Saturday, we got hit with so much rain everything started flooding - basements, rivers, roads - and we got two lines of storms that day! And now, today, we had our first one this morning, and now we have another on the way.

Well, luckily, our basement hasn't flooded yet - please send me out some good vibes, though, because we're not done yet, and I *really* don't want my new sewing machines to be flooded out (keeping the industrial overlock in the garage until this all passes due to fear of flooding!), not to mention all the fabrics *shivers at the thought*

While going for a quick run to the fabric store this afternoon, we drove by the park in our area, the one I take all the photo's in, and lo-and-behold, it was blocked off! We were wondering why. Then, going past there again on our way out for dinner, we noticed that there were huge amounts of cars parked everywhere, and even a news van. So, we did like everyone else did and pulled over (with the camera!) and walked down there... no wonder everyone was going down there!

Our nice, happy, cute waterfall was now a huge torrent! The lagoon has overflowed the banks onto the road, and is actually causing chunks of the bridge that I keep getting pictures of (the stone arch one where you can see the waterfall behind it) to erode away. It's very, very dramatic, and I'm happy we went down there. I might again tomorrow, and see about getting more pictures, but for now, here are the results of the wrath of this last storm (pasted from my stock account at ~taeliac-stock)

Holy wow!

There will be a few more pictures, but they're going to be submitted here, on this account, more than likely.

So, keep safe, and be comfortable!

Wow, I've never seen water like that where I live. Right now in California it all sunny, but I did feel a tiny earthquake a few days ago. I hope the weather passes soon over there.
I live just to the west of Milwaukee and damn...we are flooded all over around here too. Had to bail out our outside basement window wells (as the water was overflowing into our basement and down behind the power boxes. Heh. not cool!)
And as you know, we are having these storms again...be safe and stay dry!

I live in Nebraska, and the storms were supposed to head our way from Iowa, but it barely missed us. There's some damage from a small F2 tornado in Millard, but luckily, nobody was hurt. Believe me, I know your pain, as I have lilapsophobia and was terrified out of my mind when I was in the basement. Next time I know to bring a manga or something with me to take my mind off of it D:

D= I hope you and everyone else over there is ok. The only thing we really have to deal with on the east coast is the unbearable heat. and the humidity from all the rain we have been getting
Nice pictures, hon! Mom and I went out on Saturday night to look at the parkway by our house and it's completely flooded up to the streets--they've closed most of the bridges crossing the river, and parts of Hwy 100 were closed too where the road dips and big puddles formed.

Nothing quite like seeing an SUV floating down Hwy 100 to really make you respect Mother Nature, huh?

I live in Indiana. We had hail the size of nickels, and several tornados...

Yeah both our creek bridges have been closed off now. We had over 10 inches fall on us, and my sister up in Baraboo about twice as much. We were under tornado and flood warnings pretty continuously since it all started after my interview. Dramatic to say the least. The governor declared us a disaster area. My sister's boyfriends house had major basement flooding, our pump has been running 24/7.
