Funerals

My Great-Grandmother passed away this previous Monday, early in the morning. The visitation is today, and the burial is tomorrow, and I don't know exactly how I feel about it.

I'm so overwhelmed with work (see the next section for that) that I haven't really thought about it. The one thing I do know is that it's hurting my Grandfather really, really badly. That Monday, he mowed the lawn three times. He's been trying to keep busy as a distraction, because my Grandmother is not helping at all.

She's of the belief that if she ignores or refuses to acknowledge getting older, infirm, or dyeing, it will never happen to her. She's doing this to the point of hurting most of her family, and especially my Grandfather. For example, he usually doesn't stay by our house later than about 5 or so in the afternoon. He was here until 8:30 yesterday, and apparently, just as long Monday... I don't know what to do, other than to be there to support him, which leads into my next thing...

Conventions

ACen is apparently still a go. However, we won't be there until 8 or so at night on Friday, we won't get there before that, due to the burial and everything. And, yesterday was a wash on getting things done for the convention, so right now, I'm scrambling (updating this while eating lunch, as a distraction).

I built a new hat for the Yuuko outfit, this one is a wired buckram base, slanted Victorian top hat. It's covered in the same velvet that the outfit is made out of, which is pretty cool. A bit larger than I had hoped it would be, but then again, it is having so much stuff put on it, it's not even funny. I'll try to get good pictures of it shortly.

Then, I restyled my wig, while Chris is checking buttons on the outfits. Didn't get to sink them and put the military pins in place like I wanted to, to drop the shank into the fabric, but it'll have to work.

My underskirt o' doom is in the wash, before I start starching it XP

And everything has to be steamed to get wrinkles out. And all bows double-checked. And I need to make sure I even have everything ready to go - I feel so overwhelmed. I don't even know when the visitation is today, but I'm going to keep working right up until then, and then after, too!

I think the only other thing I'll be bringing with is my Fuu outfit, simply because it's so comfortable, and ... well, the sleeves are giant pockets. You can't go wrong with that!

Apparently, the people who were filming the cosplay documentary at Reactor want to film us again, this time a "behind the scenes, contest and judging type thing" It will be interesting. Then, they want to come up and film us in our work space and whatnot, which means major cleaning next week...

Next week... I don't even want to think about next week! I just want to survive the rest of this one! :faint:

I'd say I'm sorry about your Great-Grandmother, but those are just empty words. All I can say is that people around you share your grief, even though no one but you knows what you're going through. Rely on the people you love, and they will be there for you, as you will be there for them.

One- I feel sorry for you, funerals are hard things.

Two- Sounds like finals week. I have to get unit 5 and 6 of math done, otherwise, I don't graduate.

Heh.
I'm only on 5.2 right now.
Finals for math are on Tuesday. I still have 8 more chapters to go.
And, ontoip of that ,I have to clean house. The whole house, mop, vaccum, etc. So, I understand your exhaustion.

Merde.
Sorry for your loss. It can be so hard to lose a loved one. Don't kill yourself trying to get ready for Acen though! Sounds like you're even busier than I am!

Well, I'd tell you to call and poke at me if you need someone to talk to but...yah. Thought that counts, right? Lemme know if you need help cleaning? Although I am off car shopping next week (yay?)
I am sorry
I think that keeping close to your grandfather now, and offer him your support (even if it's just letting him stay with you more time than usual) is the best thing you can do.
Time will heal his wounds eventually, until that, there isn't much to do, just be strong and supportive...
