Description
Another commission, that I was finally able to get pictures of today (that didn't suck...) This one is Syaoran from Tusbasa: Reservoir Chronicles, in his desert cloak with goggles.
So, the cloak on this was easy to do - I mean, it's a cloak.
The goggles, on the other hand... those were a trip. And, it's projects like this that make me realize that casting stuff, while I enjoy it, is not my forte.
The mold was nothing but fail... actually, the horn mold I made at the same time as the goggle mold was the utter failure (still haven't been able to clean it all up from my work table!) and it spilled onto the goggle mold. It was not fun, lets put it that way.
And then, the casts wound up being a little lumpy - I have never been so happy for buffing wheels and other weird add-on's that I swore I would never need to use for the Dremel that I just got. This one took a lot of buffing and whatnot to get to look good (but, they do look good!)
They're not the most practical of things - they wound up being like 1/2" too large to be practical and worn, which sucks, because that was the original goal. Well, at least they look correct, and are pretty cool on their own.
The cloak is a cotton/poly blend in what has to be the most beautiful color green I've seen in ages. It's all serged together, with the front and hems put up with the blind hem, so no visible top-stitching. The hood is lined, and hand-sewn down, because that was the only way to do it to look nice
This cloak is friggin' huge, too - I mean, billowing huge. Dramatic, billowing huge!
The goggles are cast from resin, sanded, and the cords attached. The thing on the one side is a piece of plastic scrap. They simply tie on.

If you don't mind me asking, how many yards did you end up using for the cloak? I'm making this for my fiance and yours looks amazing! Just trying to get some tips.
