Steampunk Capelet

Description

Okay! Before I forget about them and crash and burn for the night, I wanted to post this up - this is one other sample I just recently finished (hooray for the beading...)

This is a short capelet - it comes to about your waist in the back, and to about your elbows in the front. It is cut to be worn very open in the front, so it only hangs over your arms a bit, and is easy to push further back if need be. Think "Sherlock Holmes" and his little capelet over the jacket :D

It's fully lined, and the collar can be worn up (pictured) which is really flattering on any face (even me, with my short, stumpy neck!!) because it's further back ~ I've tried to come up with collars like this... gah, for a month or so, to figure out how to get them to look flattering, where they needed to sit open, and that sort of thing... Or, you can wear it down like a regular dress shirt collar if you'd like :D

The front is closed with a leather strap - next time, I'm using thicker leather that I have, not this garment weight stuff! That almost killed me to do - I spent three hours hand sewing the button holes on it (without the aid of a leather needle, so that was fun...) to keep it from stretching when the buttons were put on it. It did a bit, but it was all for the best, because now it's where it needs to be.

Oddly enough, this looks good on guys, too ;P

The chains in the front attach with a magnetic closure under the button and is hidden under the leather bit.

Dangling on the chain are a bunch of various cloisonne and glass beads, along with a little key charm in the very middle. There are also some crystals at the top of the chain.

I was thinking more ArcanePunk with this one, but I'm not sure it's quite the right colors for that, IMO.

More of these to come, I'll be adding this to my regular Steampunk lineup, which means, with the addition of the bustle I'm submitting next (and final pictures of the damned Utility Skirt) I have my first "line," I guess you could call it, up and done! :boogie:

More pictures of this later when I can get Photoshop to run and compile them together decently without a crash!
