Wow, this was a fun costume!! I have to say, to date, that this is my most well-tailored piece I've made. It fits perfectly, it lays perfectly, and it is just cool!

The jacket and skirt are made from moleskin - a soft, kinda fuzzy fabric with a little bit of stretch. The jacket is lined in the same material, at least for the front and back. The tails are lined in red, so that they match the reference image. The skirt, is also lined in the same red, and is a full circle skirt with a nice yoke and a zipper on it. To get it to keep it's shape, there is a very pretty petticoat underneath that was boughten (upper right-hand corner picture shows the petticoat and skirt lining).

The front of the jacket closes with hook and eye tape, and the buttons are faux. There is also a placket behind the hook and eye peices, so when she's wearing the costume, you won't accidentally see the red shirt showing through.

The tie was fun to make, too, and was done on a whim last night. I was feeling "crafty" and just made a pattern for a tie that would look right, and it attaches via elastic around the neck (under the shirt collar). Oh, and that is my personal shirt on the form, hence in a few places it lays a little funny, because it's an XL and the outfit is about a M/L.

The commissioner is wearing this to DragonCon 2006, so if you're going and see her, ask her what she thinks (and snap me a picture if it's okay!)
