Well, now. 2 years later, and finally!!
I have the fabric, and a pattern drafted! Holy wow.
You have no ideas how much trouble this costume has given me! So I won't even rant about it here, but suffice to say, if you find a supplier for wide ribbed, sky blue fabric for less than $9/yard, please email me with their informaiton!!
Geezum, it was such a pain to find.
Well, other than the hassle with the fabric, this wasn't too bad, although it does have the same amount of "pain in the butt" that all knits seem to have for me. But, double needles save the day once again - oh yeah, and newer sewing machines seem to not eat knit like my old one.
Uber wide ribbed sky blue knit fabric, and the wings were stenciled on the back using the same method as this tutorial
, except they were done in extremely
thin coats (2 for this one), so that the fabric could still stretch underneath, and it doesn't look like a big pile of paint goo on top of the fabric.
The last image is to give a good sense of scale for the ribbing.
