Kimono Jewelry: Pendant : 04

Even more jewelry stuff, I'm sorry for doing these as one big barrage - I had meant to spread them out, but I'm just plain out of time to do much of anything, so... yeah! Please forgive me!

I've been making this "kimono jewelry" stuff in my down time, as a way to relax and take my mind off of everything else. I know, deep down, that I should be working on other things, but sometimes, the energy just isn't there, and this is a good alternative to keep my hands busy but not need a huge amount of energy like sewing takes.

The pendant is made from the fabric from this [link] haori, with all of the pretty little motifs on it.

Okay, so a few of you know (alright, maybe just ~kellin and ~MedeaHiasobi know) that my favorite motifs in Japanese anything are momiji (maple leaves) and waves. And, well, that kimono had a lot of maple leaves! Hooray!

And, even more oddly enough, that picture is taken against our Japanese Maple tree, which is the same color purple as the leaves in the kimono fabric, and when the light comes through them, they turn into almost that exact color pink, too! Freakie!
