Itachi from Naruto

Well, if you were unsure enough from the picture, this is indeed the cosplay piece of Itachi from Naurto

This is one of those outfits that I wanted to make for a very long time, but I knew it was going to be time consuming, and very detailed, so ever other previous commissioner either wouldn't pay for it, or wanted it too quickly for me to be able to accomplish the outfit for them. Luckily, I did find one commissioner who gave me enough time to make it, and he wanted the best damned Itachi outfit out there.

I'm very proud to say, I think he got it!

The outfit itself is made from a heavier polyester suiting, and fully lined. I wanted to prevent any sort of topstitching lines possible, so everything involving the hem and sleeves and collar was hand-sewn in. And, I didn't realize how tough it was to hand-sew through some fabrics; I've been lucky enough not to have to work with them.

Well, there is a turning point in everything. This was the worst fabric to try to sew through I could possibly ever imagine. It looks fabulous, don't get me wrong, but man... a pain in the butt to work with, to say the least!

The clouds are appliqued on - they're what I was working on for the applique tutorial. And, I still don't get why all the clouds except one are going in the same direction... I have thusly given up trying to understand these designers.

The inside is fully lined in red broadcloth, only because, around here, you cannot find red poly taffeta lining to save your life, I'm so miffed. That would have been the thing I would change with this.

The line down the front is straight, but as I don't own a man's form, I had to pad out my female (smaller) dress form *sigh* And the padding made things wobble weird down the front. I sure hope I get pictures from the commissioner!

Oh, and in case you're wondering (and I'm sure I'm going to get some Naruto-goon who doesn't bother reading this here commenting it to me, like usual) the customer specifically asked for the top to be fitted, and the bottom to be flared. I don't have to make them like this, if you don't want (although it's incredibly flattering on the body!)

_{So... I'm also thinking about selling the pattern for this outfit, custom-drafted to fit your size measurements. If you are interested, send me a note about it, just don't expect it to be incredibly cheap! I'm sorry, but I have to make it worth my time. It would include the instructions (basic, like "now sew the front and back side seams together" "apply the applique clouds" "sew the shoulder seams", etc) and there is a lot of hand sewing involved in this. I'd say it's an "INTERMEDIATE" sewing project.}

Anywho... I hope I did the character justice (and then some!)
