When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
Artist's CommentsSo. I decided over winter break, that I was going to try to use up fabric I already had, and not buy much more. Except... you see, I was at JoAnn's, and this red swirly fabric was just too good to pass up, and the red fine print was on sale (come on! $2 a yard!) so... I bought it. And used black that I already had, and ribbon I already had. Had to buy buttons, though. And the petticoat. Okay, so this wound up costing me way more than I thought it would, but still. Way worth it, I think. The main kimono is a black twill, and everything else is cotton. The heartless logo is embroidered on the back, small, because it needed something! There are five shiny stone buttons, that are in the same places that you find kamon (crests) on kimono. The skirt is a very full pleated skirt (*holycrapIfinallymadeapatternforonethatwo rks*) with a light petticoat underneath (another lace one, because it's so cute!). This whole outfit is: -- Kimono top -- Skirt -- Petticoat -- Under sash -- Main sash -- Pretied obi bow -- Obi-jime cord w/detail I originally started making this as just a black and red kimono set, I hadn't even built the embroidery pattern or even thought to put it on there. I just wanted to do another Wa-Loli outfit, but I really wanted it to be streamlined, and crisp, and clean. If you know me, you know I'm not a big fan of lace and ruffles unless they have their place. I personally don't like Wa-Loli outfits that are all white lace tacked everywhere - I wanted to try to make something that was clean lines and rather slick. Plus, piping is my friend, and I had some to use. The Heartless thing came later, after I made the underbust corset. Now, that pushed it over the edge. 2008 Taeliac Studio Cosplay Original Design - [link] |

Speaking of fabric at joanne's, I got this really beautiful tye-dyed type stuff with a neat gold and black "aztec-y" print that I ended up using for a really nice blanket... I fell in love with it the moment I saw it... It was $4/yard, but waaay way worth it ^^
