Geisha Sewing Apron

Description

Ah ha! I actually had this one done with the others, but the black background didn't work with it, so I had to wait to take the pictures (thank you to Chris for taking these for me the other day!)

The main body of this apron is made with a cotton fabric that is like Japanese wood block prints of women, kind of like Geisha (at least, as far as I understand them to be). On the pockets is another cotton fabric that also has a rather traditional Japanese motif on it, in gold. The ruffle is in black cotton, too, I just thought it set off the colors in the women rather nicely.

Anywho, the pockets are friggin' huge - I know I've always had a problem with having to keep all of my sewing tools on hand and easily accessible, with pockets large enough to hold *multiple* pairs of scissors, measuring tapes, writing utensils, chalk, a small note pad, hem gauge, sewing needles, thread, beeswax... you know what I mean!

The apron itself is 18"-20" long, and 18"-20" at the top, with a long band of grosgrain ribbon for the ties. The pockets are cut so that they're really huge, and are stitched on to be 7" wide by about 9" high, and tie closed with ribbon at the top. Leaving them tied up keeps everything inside from falling out, and what gives them the huge amount of space they have!

If you're interested (they make a fabulous X-mas gift ;P), they're available on my Etsy store -> [link]
