Design: au fait vintage corset

Description

I've been working out the kinks on having a better design idea for corsetry. I've finally got it down, and I plan on having these sort of "samples" for most of the corset ideas I have, so (hopefully) I can sell the corset before I actually make it, so that it can be made to fit a specific person. How I currently do it is to make the sample in whatever size I feel may actually sell, and then hope. This way, people get an idea of what the corset will look like before I make it.

This was especially important for corsets where I only have a limited amount of fabric, like the kimono silk one's. I'm usually lucky to get three corsets out of the fabric, sometimes less depending.

I took photos of the fabric, and then imported them to Illustrator, and tweaked with the designs there :3 It's not too bad to do once you get the hang of it, but until then, gawd is it a pain in the ass to figure out!

:star: Au Fait Vintage Corset :star:

This corset would be made just like my other corsets, fully steel boned on each seam (more if the person who I'm making it for needs the additional support) with a heavy duty flat steel piece up the center front for support.

The damask pattern is a cotton print that I adore, and would feature in the center front and back panels. The rest of the corset would be white silk. For the binding, I would use black silk, and the hot pink lines to frame in the front and back panels would also be silk, in a matching hot pink!

The neckline on this one is a higher, more square neckline (what I refer to for my own designs as a "Tudor" neckline) that is more formal, but still low enough to be sassy. Basically, it covers the "naughty bits" without being too high - I really don't like corsets that completely cover the bust for some reason.

The stitching for the bone channels would be visible, too, which adds a bit more casual/sexiness to it, as opposed to more formal with the bone casings hidden.

Basically, this corset comes out to being a dichotomy (hence the name as well - "au fait vintage" = contemporary classic)

It would be lined in a fun cotton print (based more on my whim, or what sort of things you'd like), and would be fully reversible for two looks in one corset.

:pointr: If you are interested in commissioning this corset, just let me know! I will definitely set up a payment plan for you, cuz I  you!

You know, I'm going to need a corset for an anime con this year...how much would it cost to get one similar to this?
