Phew! My first foray into Journal Skins - I will admit, it feels good to get to do some CSS stuff done, because I start feeling rusty with programming otherwise.

I love simple designs, which is why this one is just that - simple. There are all sorts of places you can slap stamps and gifs and all that stuff on your page, I don't think it needs to be in your journal, but that's just my opinion.

All of the images used are my own, from ~taeliac-stock.

This Journal Skin is free to use, and I'll keep hosting it as long as it doesn't completely murder my bandwidth (I doubt that's possible, but still, ya never know...)

This was done to test the new Journal Skins feature of dA. I just felt like doing something graphics-y for a while today, as I haven't been in a very creative mood lately. This is free to use for subscribers, I'll be uploading the deviation of it shortly, once I figure it out

Also, if you do decide to use this Journal Skin, you can (and, indeed, should!) edit the top menu - it will look it's best if you leave it as one line, but change the links to being to your gallery, and your important sites (your Twitter, LJ, a specific gallery folder, or even a Watch link ~)

All you need to do is leave the first part alone, where it says < div class="wrapper" >< div class="floatingmenu" >. After that, change all the stuff to be links to your own bits (if you don't know how, read on). Leave the final < /div > alone, however, you still need it!

Put the rest of your content in the "Content" part of the entry, and you're good to go!

<sub>If you don't know how to create a link to something in HTML, here is the down and dirty. First, open the page you want to link to in another tab, and copy the address (right click, copy). Then, type (without * symbols!): <*a href="http://somepage.html"*>, where somepage.html is the page you want to get to (i.e. the thing you just copied, open in another window, remember that? Just paste it there instead!).

Next, you'll want to type what you want the user to see, something like LOOK HERE NAO! or whatever. Then, to finish it all off, be sure to "close" the tag with <*/a> (again, remove the *).

And you're good!</sub>



Simply type <*div class="heading">What you want people to see!<*/div>, again, without the * in there. Pretty easy, huh?

You can also see what thumbnails look like, just type <*div class="thumbs">:thumbnail####:<*/div>



You get the :thumbnail####: off of the submission, right under the submission date and favs and all that good information.



I hope this works for you, and again, please let me know if there are any issues with it from your angle, I can only test in FireFox 3.0.11 and Safari XP
