Bao Yukata : Spring Dreams

About two weeks ago, I found out about an awesome fabric printing service called FabricOnDemand.com, and wanted to try it out. And, of course, I can't just do something easy, no, that would make too much sense, so I decided to re-draft my Pipos Bao yukata pattern digitally (keeping it to the exact size was nigh impossible, but it worked after a while!) and then color the various pattern pieces in using Photoshop, and test it out!

So, basically, what this is is my Pipos kimono pattern that is printed right onto the fabric, pattern and all. Yep, that's right. All you do is cut out the outline, and, if the pattern isn't too dark (hence the white kimono base as a test) you'll even have your stitching line marked right on the cotton!

After it's cut out, you can kind of see the stitching line on the fabric (it's in a very light gray), and then you just make sure everything is lined up (this way, you know that the seam allowance is dead on if you just cut carefully along the outer line) and sew slightly inside of the seam line, to hide it!

How friggin' cool is that?

Is this something you'd be interested in, if you own larger BJD's or even something like American Girl dolls? Because I'd totally just love to make patterns, and design the fabric (so it's completely an original design!) and have it printed, and basically sell these as kits (in this case, including the various ribbons).

I'm trying my very best, for this pattern, at least, to keep it under $25 for the kits (out of cotton - I did get a sample made out of satin, too, that I'm waiting to sew together!)
